Understanding Nevada Restaurant Exhaust Regulations

Western Commercial | Understanding Nevada Restaurant Exhaust Regulations

Restaurant owners should invest in a reliable, certified hood cleaning company because of Nevada state law requirements for kitchen exhaust cleaning.

Nevada is Tough on Grease

The state of Nevada has some of the best public safety and fire prevention regulations in the country. Las Vegas has more than a thousand restaurants, and every one of these eating establishments is required by state law to routinely clean their kitchens’ hoods and exhausts. Restaurant owners are required by Nevada state law to have their hood and exhaust systems cleaned by state-certified hood cleaning specialists in accordance with ANSI C-10 specifications on a regular basis. Hood cleaning in Las Vegas isn’t as glamorous as gambling, but by law it needs to be done regularly to protect the safety of Nevada’s millions of annual visitors.

Nevada State Sets High Standards for Hood and Exhaust Cleanliness

Hood and exhaust cleaning technicians are trained to uphold the strictest National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 96 Standards on the job. Technicians train on perfect replicas of the Type I Exhaust System before they ever enter a real kitchen. The State of Nevada requires that technicians be trained to meet and beat a rigorous standard of cleanliness and safety. State law also mandates that hood exhaust cleaning companies use only the highest quality cleaning fluids, like ZEP and 20/10, which are rated environmentally safe by the EPA. State-certified hood and exhaust cleaning companies are committed to protecting customers, restaurant owners, and the environment.

Kitchen Grease Buildup is a Fire Hazard

Grease builds up over time within the ducts, hoods, fans and vents of kitchen exhaust systems. Commercial kitchens in Nevada must be inspected at regular intervals in accordance with the Nevada state fire code. If an inspection reveals that enough grease has accumulated to constitute a potential fire hazard, a cleaning by a state-certified company has to be performed. Cleanings must be also performed at set intervals, to ensure public safety. Restaurant owners are required to keep evidence of regular inspections and cleaning on file, accessible to state inspectors.
